HER BRITANNIC MAJESTY'S SUFREME COURT,

SHANGHAI,

1898.

I have the honour to inform you, in accord-

ance with the provision of the China and Japan Order

in Council 1855, section 111, that. I have this day

made an order of deportation to Hong Kong against

one William Arthur Cance.

The grounds of this order are that Cance

having been convicted before this Court on the 27th

day of May, 1898 of obtaining goods under false

pretences

previous conviction having been recorded

against him for a similar offence) and having been

ordered to find sureties for his future good be-

haviour has failed to find such sureties.
